There are only a few reasons that speak against hypnosis. However, these should be taken into account. The following points describe contraindications and possible limitations of hypnosis:
Difficulty in understanding speech due to confusion or mental impairment, brain organic diseases such as dementia
Acute psychosis, such as in major depression or schizophrenia
Strong desire to die, suicidal tendencies
Acute influence of alcohol, drugs or medication
Very strong physical tension
Desire to uncover the real truth
Physical illnesses that have NOT been clarified in advance
