What are the arguments against hypnosis?
There are only a few reasons that speak against hypnosis. However, these should be taken into account. As with any therapeutic treatment method, there are also so-called contraindications with hypnosis: These are reasons that speak against a hypnosis session. The following points describe contraindications and possible limitations of hypnosis:
- Difficulty in understanding speech due to confusion or mental impairment, brain organic diseases such as dementia
- Acute psychosis, such as in major depression or schizophrenia
- Strong desire to die, suicidal tendencies
- Acute influence of alcohol, drugs or medication
- Very strong physical tension
- Desire to uncover the real truth
- Physical illnesses that have NOT been clarified in advance
