How long do the effects of hypnosis last?
Can old patterns and behaviors reoccur?
Suggestions that continue to work after hypnosis are called posthypnotic suggestions. These do not necessarily require a refresher and can continue to work for years after hypnosis. With other behavior patterns, it is again the case that you need to consolidate over a longer period of time and need a refresher every now and then. This depends on the person, your problem and issue, and the individual effect of hypnosis. Also, personal inner resistance and receptivity, as well as external circumstances, depend on how long hypnosis works.
Duration of effect depends strongly on the topic
People come to the hypnotherapist with the most diverse topics and concerns. Some want to lose weight and need support. Here, experience shows that it makes sense to perform a few repetitions so that a long-term effect can be achieved. Traumatic experiences, on the other hand, which were made once, can usually be worked through with one or two sessions. Some clients feel almost nothing in the first sessions and need a few attempts to go into trance. How this works out in detail, of course, always depends on the individual person.
How to tell if hypnosis is working
In order for the client to know when and how long hypnosis will work on him, he must first know how it works in the first place. This is not as easy as it may sound. In fact, some clients do not even realize that hypnosis is already working on them. Some also feel changes later and do not even associate them with hypnosis. No matter how intense the hypnosis or trance was for you to notice, it is always recommended to wait a few hours or days first. You do not leave the session a changed person, the hypnosis takes a while to have an effect. You will not feel an immediate effect, other than deep relaxation or something similar. This is also not in the nature of hypnosis.
