Absorbency
The absorptive capacity describes the openness in relation to a mental change. This includes the ability to imagine. Anyone who is open to such experiences is able to focus their mental resources on a perceptual object and to ignore other stimuli. Psychology professor Auke Tellegen used the concept of absorption to relate differences in hypnotizability to broader aspects of personality. The ability to absorb also plays a major role in hypnotherapy. Clients who are prone to this ability find it easier to engage in the hypnosis and trance.
