Arm levitation
With arm levitation, the hypnotist lets the hypnotized person's arm float suggestively. Of course, the arm does not float in the literal sense, it lifts without the hypnotisand actively supporting it. This is achieved by the power of the subconscious mind, so that it seems to the client as if his arm is floating by itself. The arm actually lifts off the back of the chair or couch, it is not a sensory illusion. Usually the client can then hold his arm up effortlessly, it feels light and effortless. Arm levitation is often performed to convince the client that hypnosis is actually working.
