The so-called so-as-if framework comes from the field of neuro-linguistic programming, or NLP for short. It involves acting or thinking as if something were true, that is, real. Through this type of simulation technique, the client adopts the perspective that a goal/event/wish has already happened. Making this fictitious true allows the client to look at the solution path with a creative eye, but also to creatively examine the possible consequences, emotions, and actions. What sounds like a game from our childhood can actually pave the way for new insights and approaches to solutions. Hypnosis can also be used in this way to travel back in time mentally, thereby subconsciously enabling the client to gain new perspectives.
