Autogenic training is a well-known relaxation method based on autosuggestion. It is closely related to hypnosis, as it is a kind of self-hypnosis. It was developed by the Berlin psychiatrist Johannes Heinrich Schultz, it consists of individual repeats, which are supposed to achieve certain effects. So there is the rest-, heaviness- and warmth-apport. Here the breathing, individual body areas and limbs become either calm, heavy or warm. This requires some practice, as in hypnosis, the suggestions are permanently repeated until they eventually reach the subconscious.
