Hypnosis Stages

Hypnosis is not a state that is uniform and always proceeds in the same way. Therefore, in practice, a distinction is made between different stages. These stages are thereby rather to be seen as guidelines for you, because in which depth of the trance you are, is not decisive during the therapy. However, the knowledge of the stages can help you yourself to better understand and allocate yourself and your sensations during hypnosis.
  • Light trance: initial relaxation of the muscles, slightly increased sense of well-being, full waking consciousness
  • Medium trance: deepened relaxation, slow loss of self-motor skills, waking consciousness restricted
  • Deep trance: waking consciousness completely switched off
The third stage, the deep trance, is mainly used during anesthesia. Stage one and two are mostly reached and needed in a therapy by means of hypnosis.
