The magnetic finger is a classic test (convincer) in hypnosis. The hypnotist suggests that two of the client's fingers are magnetic and the client can observe how both fingers come closer to each other as if by themselves. The client concentrates on the one hand on the words and on the other hand on the fingers, which he observes throughout. He can observe how the fingers come closer and closer together. Through the suggestions, this happens without conscious effort on the part of the client and can sometimes happen through jerky muscle movements, sometimes fluidly. The hypnosis test of the magnetic fingers is based on the so-called ideomotor activity, with which words are transformed into ideas and inner images and finally externally into movements.
