Parapsychology is associated with a branch of scientific research that investigates psychic abilities that lie outside of normal waking consciousness. Parapsychology deals with all those phenomena for which we have no and perhaps still no explanatory models. These include experiences that go beyond the "normal" or the ordinary, such as encounters with the deceased, hearing voices, or even spooky phenomena. Affected people who have such experiences are often declared crazy by those around them. Parapsychology investigates the causes of such experiences and the possible continuation of life after death. For a long time, hypnosis has also served as a basis for such limits of perception and the abandonment of the normal cognitive faculty. Many people who experience hypnosis report feelings of incorporeality, detachment from one's own body and thus have similar experiences in hypnosis, so to speak, which for many is experienced as amazing as it is unexpected.
