Timeline therapy was developed in the 1980s by NLP and hypnosis specialist Wyatt Woodsmall. In this process, the client walks on an imagined timeline located on the floor. The background is the well-founded assumption that our experience is essentially shaped by our memories. Roughly speaking, a person or his personality is nothing more than the sum of his memories. By walking across the imaginary timeline on the floor, the client gets in touch with his or her respective memories and, in the best case, can relive them and heal old hurts and traumas. In therapeutic hypnosis, memories and making them conscious also play a central role.
